“In my clinic, I always want my patients to know they are heard.”

Dr. Thompson is a double board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in both reconstructive and aesthetic surgery.  He understands that no two patients are the same and believes that every patient deserves a plan for surgery that maximizes safety while simultaneously achieving their individual goals.  Dr. Thompson’s patients most appreciate his patience and attentiveness, as he strives to take the time to listen and understand what his patients really want.

“The uniqueness of each individual case is the greatest challenge in plastic surgery; it keeps me excited to come to work each day.”

Dr. Thompson understands that, as both an art and science, plastic surgery is a discipline that requires a constant drive for self-improvement.  As his patients often share, his detail-oriented and thoughtful approach leads to beautiful results.  Dr. Thompson is continually looking for ways to optimize both his outcomes and his patients’ care experience.

“My philosophy is simple – treat each patient like you would a member of your family.”

Dr. Thompson knows that, for his patients, there is no such thing as a small surgery.  He understands the stress and emotional weight of medical decision making and planning to have an operation, whether for elective reasons or an unanticipated medical diagnosis.  Dr. Thompson strives to make his patients feel comfortable, calm, and confident that they are going to receive excellent care – the same care that he would give his mother, brother, or child.

“In plastic surgery, nothing is more important than safety and efficacy.”

When you make a decision to have surgery at the Emory Aesthetic Center, you will receive care based on the latest and best scientific evidence.  Dr. Thompson will work with you to develop a plan that is safe and effective and will discuss risks, benefits, and alternative approaches.  As a surgeon and educator, Dr. Thompson takes pride in being knowledgeable about both new innovations in plastic surgery as well as tried and true techniques.   Dr. Thompson is continually working on his own research projects including ways to decrease infection after breast surgery.

“My family is the most important thing in my life.”

In his free time, Dr. Thompson enjoys gardening, running, reading, cooking, and trying to learn new skills like playing the piano.  On weekends, he can most often be found cheering on his two children at their soccer games.  Dr. Thompson’s wife is also a physician at Emory in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology.
