The first liver transplant in Georgia was performed in 1987 by transplant surgeons at Emory University Hospital. Today, Emory Transplant Center is known for its Liver Transplant Program nationwide. It has performed more than 2,700 liver transplants to date. Our program has a long tradition of treating end-stage liver disease and portal hypertension, providing the full continuum of lifesaving care involved in liver transplantation.
Emory's expert team of liver transplant specialists is comprised of liver transplant surgeons, transplant hepatologists, gastroenterologists, anesthesiologists, pathologists, radiologists and nurses who are all experienced in treating liver failure.
